Description

Thousands of people gathered at the Little Clarendon Street Fair in Oxford on Saturday to enjoy street entertainers, brass bands, morris and maypole dancers, a jazz band, and a marching band. Despite the city council and Oxford police granting permission to organisers to use Wellington Square for craft stalls and entertainment, some motorists disregarded the road closure signs to park in the designated areas. Organiser Jan Moonger said, “I couldn’t believe it…Luckily we managed to get everything in.” Proceeds from the event are going to the Opportunity Playgroup at Plowman Towers in Northway Estate, Oxford. Woodcarver Fred Close from Long Crendon had offered to donate part of the proceeds from a 1,000 lion and cub figure if he sold it at the event, but it remained unsold.Thousands of people gathered at the Little Clarendon Street Fair in Oxford on Saturday to enjoy street entertainers, brass bands, morris and maypole dancers, a jazz band, and a marching band.
