On January 2nd, 1968, 87 boys and girls from schools in Oxford and Oxfordshire showed interest in attending a course to gain knowledge of the industry at Pressed Steel Fisher in Cowley, Oxford. After being selected, the 20 students – 15 boys and five girls – spent a week at the factory taking a close look, watching films, and talking to technologists, computer experts, and other workers.
