On Tuesday 6 April 2021, workers of the Austin Rover Group protested the company’s shock decision to close the South Works plant in Cowley, Oxford, England and axe the 3,500 manual jobs. East Oxford MP Mr Andrew Smith called for an immediate meeting with Rover Group and promised full backing to save at least some of the jobs.
